Château Mouton Rothschild Marathon du Médoc

Château Mouton Rothschild, first stop on the 2015 Médoc Marathon

Château Mouton Rothschild was once again one of the properties to host a stage of the 2015 Médoc Marathon, the 31st edition of which was held on 12 September with the theme “Dressed Up to the Nines”.

Over 8,300 brave participants, in costumes each more extravagant than the last, took up the challenge of the 42-kilometre run, punctuated by events at various estates in the Médoc.

This year, and for the first time, Château Mouton Rothschild opened the festivities with the very first stand on the course, only 2.5 kilometres from the start. The runners passed in front of Château d’Armailhac before crossing the park it shares with Château Mouton Rothschild.

A team of volunteers from Château Mouton Rothschild supported by Camille Sereys de Rothschild was there to encourage the runners and welcome them to the stand where, to the sound of a street band, pastries and refreshments awaited them from 9.15am.

The Médoc Marathon is also an opportunity for estates in the region to take each other on in a sporting context, with a “Châteaux Challenge” determining the one with the fastest five runners. The team from Château Mouton Rothschild earned a very creditable 14th place (out of 30 teams).
