Aile d’argent – 2007

Aile d’argent – 2007

Climatic conditions

From the vegetation period through ripening to harvest, no effort was spared in 2007 to bring the grapes to maturity in good condition. After a rather wet winter, which replenished water reserves, budbreak began in early April. This early vegetation growth was due to exceptionally hot and dry weather, with only 16.4 mm of rain and an average temperature of 16°C, compared with the usual 11.7°C. Flowering took place around 26 May, fifteen days earlier than the average, presaging an early harvest as in 1989 and 2003. A relatively cool summer slowed the ripening process, but an exceptionally hot and dry September enabled the grapes to reach full maturity. The harvest of Aile d’Argent began on 13 September and continued in fine weather until 20 September, producing a fully ripe crop in excellent condition.

Tasting notes

The wine is a clear and brilliant pale yellow. The nose reveals intense aromas of citrus fruit and green tea that develop notes of fruit like white peach. The wine is very supple on the palate, giving an impression of freshness heightened by a touch of mint and striking a harmonious balance between acidity and the generous texture conveyed by Semillon. A long and warm finish reveals all the richness of flavour of this exceptional vintage for white wines.
